Summary: There are times when Genesis likes to hear Cloud laugh. This is not one of them right now. There are also times when Cloud thinks that Genesis is overdramatic. This is definitely one of those.
Notes: done for @strifesodosweek, and works for both the prompts ‘disaster’ and ‘accident’! It’s a short one, but I hope you enjoy.
Genesis wasn’t talking to him, hadn’t been for the
past two days and Cloud had had enough of it.
He greeted the look of concern on Genesis’ secretary’s
face with a kind smile, the man hadn’t left his office since it happened and they were both concerned
for him. She returned it with a shaky one of her own, picking up her bag to
finally leave for the day.
They exchanged soft goodbyes as she passed him,
leaving Cloud alone in the empty corridor outside of Genesis’ office.
He took a deep breath, reaching out with one hand and
pushing the door open with a small amount of difficulty.
A/N: This is a bit of a sequel to my Day 2 Prompt for Strifesodos Week, so yep, still following the Strifesodos Merlin/Arthur Reincarnation theme. Also, this prompt fic is inspired by Alan’s “Michishirube” (God Eater Resurrection’s Ending Theme).
There are times when we get lost too, but As long as we have memories We won’t be lonely Thank you, I won’t forget
Cloud ignored the looks he was getting from the people
around him; he had every right to be there, he knew he did.
Genesis was coming home today, something had happened
and he’d requested one of the others to take his place on the mission, so Cloud
was going to meet him when he got off the transport. His partner was going to
be in a terrible mood when he returned, Cloud wanted to be there to meet him.
The transport pulled into the landing bay a tense hour
later and opened up to allow the medical professionals to get out those who
returned injured first. Cloud was left waiting until the bay was long deserted
before Genesis appeared, arm wrapped in more bandages than Cloud have ever seen
him in before.
There weren’t a lot of traditions Cloud kept from
Nibelheim. Really, all he wants to keep is a few traditions regarding those
that had passed and one other one.
Tifa had probably expected him to carry out the
tradition with her and had given him disappointed looks each time he left for a
delivery or anything like that. But, it had never felt right with her, he’d
never wanted to do anything like that with her, so he hadn’t.
For so long, he didn’t understand why it hadn’t felt
right with Tifa. Then, one day out of the blue, he did.
Characters: Cloud, Shelke, Genesis, various others.
Summary: Following on from First Encounters, Shelke helps bring certain things to light about their new acquaintance. When Cloud finally finds him again, his attempts at getting answers are less than fruitful.
Written for @strifesodosweek, though this one’s mainly platonic again.
Characters: Cloud, Tifa, Genesis (the ghost of the story, felt but not seen), others.
Summary: It’s been several months since Genesis’ disappearance, and no matter how much Cloud believes that he isn’t truly gone, it sometimes seems as though he’s still seeing ghosts everywhere.
Notes: It’s best if you read this after chapter seven of “To Change A Sombre Morrow” if you’re planning on reading that, as that chapter gives this fic a lot of specific context.
This also refers slightly to ’Hey, Look At Us Now’, yet that fic is not necessary to understand this one.
Written for @strifesodosweek, so if you’re only here for that then go ahead, read, and just try and imagine what might be going on.
Cloud kept moving, unable to bear turning back to look
at Genesis. There was no way he could even be in the same room as the other man
after what he’d just learned, no matter how much he begged him.
“Cloud, please!”
He kept going, ignoring Genesis’ cries and the tears
building in his own eyes. He was done with being fooled and messed around with,
he was done with people thinking they could treat him like this just because he
was in the regular infantry.
“Stop!” Cloud froze instinctively at the commanding
tone, stiff and still as he reacted to the voice of authority behind him.
He grit his teeth and waited, hearing Genesis draw a
heavy, stunned breath behind him. He waited for the other to say something else
before continuing to walk away.
Prompt fill for strifesodos week day 3 - ((Free Day))
A/N: Y’know, whenever I heard “free”, I instantly remember my “Freedom Wars” posts I made regarding my strifesodos character models, so why not this “free day” theme be an AU regarding my favorite game, “Freedom Wars”! It sure has been a long time since I post something “Freedom Wars”-related, so more Strifesodos Freedom Wars AU!!!
“Incoming message from Panopticon.”
Hearing Cloud’s speech got Genesis then turned to the screen, in which Percy Propa appeared, clapping with the sound of fanfares.
“Your million-year sentence has been served in full! YOU’RE FREE!!“
Genesis smirked. After fulfilling all these Contributions he could find, along with the Retributions he faced, even Abel and the Red Rage incident, his hard work finally paid off.
“We never thought for a minute that a forgetful degenerate such as you would even come close to working on your entire debt to society… So congratulations for proving us all wrong“
Genesis just rolled his eyes. As expected from a blasted mascot like you.
“You’re now a fully fledged, bona fide, card-carrying second-class citizen! Hooray!“ Percy continues, “Your new status comes with the following amazing entitlements…“
Hmm, I wonder what sort of entitlements they have for me? Genesis pondered a bit until he realized that Percy continues talking.
“Now, for the future joy and prosperity of your Panopticon, it’s time to get out there and give it your all! FOR THE GREATER GOOD!”
As Percy vanished from the screen, Genesis narrowed his eyes at the screen, because after many times he dealt listening that trolling mascot, he knows there’s something else in store… which finally confirms his suspicion and Percy came back.
“Oh, I nearly forgot. You’re not being transferred anywhere this time. You’re staying right where you are.“
Genesis continues to glare at the mascot … Of course.
As Percy finally left the screen, Genesis crossed his arms and shook his head after hearing that. Obviously… Which will take a while. I doubt it will be sooner…
Genesis sighs, arms still crossed, as he looked up to the ceiling, then turned to his Accessory standing in front of the door, staring at Genesis.
It sure has been a long time since the amnesia incident that cost him one million year. Still, it’s all thanks to his fellow comrades that aid him, but most of all, Cloud. A cyborg he may be, Cloud became beneficial to him throughout his missions. If it weren’t for him, regardless of a pain of an ass he has been since the first time they work together, he would never be free.
Genesis then got up from his bench and approach to his Accessory.
“Well, Cloud. Looks like my sentence has finally been served. What do you think?”
Genesis shook his head, “You know, I believe it’s alright for you to drop this “Sinner” and just call me by my name, instead.“
“…“
Genesis sighs as he looked back to the screen, trying to think of something else to do.
Even if he’s a free man, he’s still part of Panopticon as a volunteer now. Still, his comrades still has yet to reach to serving their sentence, and he knows there are other Sinners working hard to earn their freedom, so Genesis thought, why not? He’s free now, so it’s best to help out the others to earn their freedom as well.
“Well, it’s sure will take a while for me to ever to leave this cell and earn my own place to live with in the same area where the Citizens are, so…let’s just keep on contributing to make up some time. Okay?”
Cloud remains standing there in silence, staring at Genesis with his glowing blue cybernetic eyes.
“.. Cloud?”
A few second of silence, Genesis blinked when Cloud slowly formed a small smile on his face as he responds:
“Let us continue to further the glory of Panopticon together… Genesis.“
Genesis blinked again by surprised.
To hear his cyborg saying his first name the first time, and making such a genuine expression, Genesis smiled back to Cloud.
“Yeah… let’s go contribute.”
Then…
and Now.
Congratulation on earning your Freedom, Genesis.
I look forward to keep on contributing alongside you.
Neither of them had a place to call home after
everything was said and done, so they made a new one of their own.
First, they needed to decide where they’d go. Edge wasn’t a place they wanted to be anymore and
neither Nibelheim or Banora were even options anymore, both due to them being
destroyed by Shinra.
